The key differences between them
It is clear Artificial intelligence (AI) systems can outperform people, in several important ways.
AI can demonstrably excel at processing and integrating new information quickly. The next ability, of separate AI models being able to share knowledge between themselves, is just beginning to be explored.
As computers can operate without the need for rest or distraction, and ingest datasets at speeds far beyond human capabilities, they can complete tasks at a rate no one can match.
Here are three specific ways AI and human intelligence differ:
Learning Efficiency
| Humans | AI |

| Can learn new things quickly, sometimes from just one example. This is called one-shot learning. For instance, after seeing one or two pictures of an elephant, a person can recognize elephants in many other pictures. | AI systems need a huge number of examples, sometimes millions or billions, to learn as well as humans. This process is called multishot learning. This is why humans are much more efficient learners than AI. |
So while AI is unmatched in speed, endurance, and data processing, we humans excel in learning efficiency, particularly with minimal examples. This key distinction highlights the complementary strengths of human intelligence compared to AI.
